The Reserve CIFF.
While most inhabitants of the Monte Virgen reserve struggle with the coffee harvest, forest ranger Julia (Carolina Guzmán) fights unwaveringly to protect the forest around her village from illegal logging. Julia discovers that a group of loggers is gradually destroying the reserve. Determined to stop them, she seeks support from a fearful and indifferent community that turns its back on her. Alone in her quest, she gradually loses everything she loves most—except her dignity. Filmed with non-professional actors and based on real testimonies, the film, an environmental thriller, portrays the urgent struggles of environmental defenders in Mexico and across Latin America against deforestation. Note: Winner of the OJO Award for Best Feature at the Morelia International Film Festival 2025 and Pablo Perez Lombardini as Best Director. The OJO (Eye) Award is the festival’s top in-competition honor, presented across the core sections of its Official Selection.
